Charlie Parker was born in Kansas City on August 29, 1920. He died in New York on March 12, 1955. One of a handful of musicians who has permanently changed jazz, Mr. Parker is arguably the greatest saxophonist of all time. He could play remarkably fast lines that, if slowed down to half speed, would reveal a highly developed compositional sense.
