John Michael Osbourne was born December 3, 1948 in Birmingham, England. He earned the nickname "Ozzy" while still in grammar school. School didn’t go well for the dyslexic Ozzy. He dropped out at age 15, taking various odd jobs that included gutting sheep and killing cattle at a slaughterhouse. He is also said to have tried his hand at burglary, which ended with a six-week stint in Winson Green prison, where it’s claimed he etched the now-famous "o-z-z-y" tattoo across his knuckles. Shortly after this, he ran into an old friend who had formed a band in need of a singer. He had always loved the Beatles and now decided he wanted to be just like them. (Ha Ha)
