Mr. King was born in Gilmer, Texas on September 3, 1934. He died in Dallas, Texas on December 28, 1976. Freddie rode to fame in the early ’60s with catchy instrumentals which became instant bandstand fodder for fellow bluesmen and rock bands alike. His 45rpm records would have a virtuoso rock instrumental on one side and an electric blues vocal on the other. He is truly the bridge between blues and early rock guitar.
Standard notation and Tab show how to play everything on 8 instrumentals: The Stumble, San-Ho -Zay, Hideaway, Wash Out, Heads Up, In The Open, The Sad Nite Owl, Side Tracked, and 7 vocal tunes which include the lyrics: Full Time Love, Have You Ever Loved a Woman, I’m Tore Down, If You Believe In What You Do, Lonesome Whistle Blues, See See Baby, You’ve Got to Love Her With a Feeling.
The 80 page book includes interesting bio material with transcriptions by Ken Chipkin.
