Spiral bound collection 60 compositions, photographs, discography, lyric versions of ten tunes, counter lines, codas, and chord extensions.
Two different versions of some tunes show the evolution of the tune and maturation of the artist.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on August 16, 1929, Bill Evans was (along with McCoy Tyner) the most influential pianist in jazz during the ’60s and ’70s, and since his death in 1980 his influence has exceeded Tyner’s. Evans, who was the next step beond Bud Powell, had a sophisticated way of voicing chords that has been adopted by a countless number of pianists. His compositions strive to go beyond the standard 12 bar blues and 32 bar standard AABA song forms.
