Born April 25, 1923 in Indianola, Missippi. Died December 21, in Memphis, Tennessee. Albert King is a major influence on blues and rock guitar players. Without him, modern guitar music would not sound as it does. His style has influenced blues players from Otis Rush and Robert Cray to Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He had his own style and unique tone without falling into typical blues cliches.
Learn the trademark riffs and solos of the blues giant! The transcriptions are in standard tuning, rather than Albert’s tuning and are written and tabbed right-handed at concert pitch so that the backing chords and solo licks appear in the same key. This approach facilitates a clearer understanding of King’s note-to-chord relationships.
Twelve songs: Angel of Mercy, Answer to the Laundromat Blues, Blues Power, Born Under a Bad Sign, Crosscut Saw, Don’t Throw Your Love on Me So Strong, The Hunter, I Wanna Get Funky, I’ll Play the Blues for You, Laundromat Blues, Oh Pretty Woman, Personal Manager.
Author Wolf Marshall includes a CD to illuminate the detailed text, notes and tablature
